Terms of Use
Effective September 10, 2026 · Updated September 17, 2026 (sections 11–24 added)
1. Who we are
Cannatype (cannatype.org and its dispensary demonstration sites, such as finefettle.cannatype.org) and The CannAlyzer™ are operated by Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC (formation pending). By using the site you agree to these terms.
2. Educational use only — not medical advice
Everything on Cannatype is for educational purposes only. Nothing on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a recommendation to use any product. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using cannabis, especially if you take medications, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a medical condition.
U.S. FDA disclosure. * Statements made on this website have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Information provided by this website or this company is not a substitute for individual medical advice.
3. Questions and feedback
The Feedback page has an automated assistant that answers common questions from a fixed set of facts about this site. Questions about emergencies, legal matters, privacy or removal requests, or disputed certificates are not answered automatically — they are passed to the owner for personal review. Questions, messages and answers are logged so the owner can review them.
4. Compound-effect statements
Notes about what individual cannabinoids and terpenes may feel like are based on current scientific understanding — published preclinical and early clinical research on isolated compounds. Individual responses vary, and the combined effects of compounds in a real product are largely unproven. These notes are not claims about any specific product.
5. Certificates and data
Every value shown is read from a laboratory certificate of analysis (COA) or a state registry record. Cannatype does not test products. Certificates you analyze are stored in our library and may be shown to other users. A certificate is saved without your name or contact details. If you contact us, we keep the email address and message you send so we can reply. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits.
6. Automated analysis can make mistakes
Cannatype's analysis is automated and can make mistakes — for example, misreading a value or matching a certificate to the wrong product. Always double-check against the original laboratory certificate, and confirm that the batch or lot number on your package matches the certificate.
7. Age
You must be 21 or older, or a registered medical cannabis patient, to use this site.
8. Dispensary demonstration sites
Pages that show a dispensary's name, logo or colors demonstrate how Cannatype can present certificate data for a store. Unless a page says otherwise, they do not mean that the dispensary endorses, sponsors or operates Cannatype. Cannatype.org is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the University of California, Berkeley.
9. No warranty
The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC is not liable for decisions made based on information on this site.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. Questions: use the Feedback page or email [email protected].
11. News & Education content
The NEWS & Education section publishes plain-language articles about cannabis science. Each article is written with artificial-intelligence assistance from a named source — a peer-reviewed paper indexed on PubMed, a laboratory certificate of analysis, or a government record — and every article links to that source. AI can make mistakes, including misreading a study or a lab report, and articles are not reviewed by a physician, pharmacist, scientist or lawyer before publication. Articles are educational commentary, not medical advice, and are not claims about any product, brand, dispensary or producer. Study findings describe the populations, doses and products tested and may not apply to you. Verify any statement against the cited source before relying on it. Short quotations from cited papers are reproduced for the purpose of commentary and education; the papers remain the property of their authors and publishers, and links marked DOI go to the publishers' own sites. Laboratory data quoted in articles come from publicly posted certificates for products purchased at licensed dispensaries; batch identifiers are omitted.
12. Third-party links, sources and data
The site links to and draws on third-party sources, including PubMed and journal publishers, state registries and agencies, laboratories, dispensary menus and Cloudflare. We do not control those sites or data and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement, and nothing on this site implies that any laboratory, producer, dispensary, publisher, university or government agency endorses, sponsors or is affiliated with Cannatype.
13. Intellectual property and trademarks
The site's original text, design, software and compilations are owned by Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC. Cannatype™ and The CannAlyzer™ are trademarks of Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC. Certificates of analysis, registry records, product names, brand names and logos shown on the site belong to their respective owners and appear for identification and educational purposes only. You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use; you may not copy, scrape, republish, sell or build a competing service from the site's content or data without written permission.
14. No sale of cannabis; legal compliance and safety
Cannatype does not sell, dispense, ship or deliver cannabis or any product and takes no orders. Cannabis laws differ between federal law and the laws of each state and locality, and change often; you are solely responsible for knowing and complying with the laws that apply to you. Cannabis can impair judgment and coordination — do not drive or operate machinery after use. Cannabinoids can interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines, and use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, by people under 21, or by people with certain medical or mental-health conditions carries additional risk. Keep cannabis products away from children and pets.
15. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the site if you are under 21 (unless you are a registered medical cannabis patient), not to rely on it for medical, legal or purchasing decisions without independent verification, not to interfere with or overload the site, and not to use automated tools to harvest its content or data except as permitted by our robots.txt.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC and its members, managers, employees and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the site, its content or any linked third-party site or product, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. The site is free to use; our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
17. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC and its members, managers, employees and contractors from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the site, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
18. Privacy summary
What we store is described in section 5: certificates you analyze (without your name or contact details), the email address and message you send if you contact us, questions and answers on the Feedback page, and visit counts through Cloudflare Web Analytics. We do not require accounts. If you want a certificate or message removed, use the Feedback page or the contact address below.
19. Governing law, disputes and general terms
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, and you consent to their jurisdiction, unless applicable law requires otherwise. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. These terms are the entire agreement between you and Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC regarding the site and replace any earlier terms. We may assign these terms; you may not.
20. Your content, feedback and licence to us
You keep ownership of anything you submit to the site — certificates, messages, questions, suggestions. By submitting it you give Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, display, analyse and use it to operate and improve the site, including showing certificates you upload to other users. You confirm you have the rights needed to grant that licence and that your submission does not break any law or anyone's rights. Ideas and suggestions you send us may be used without any obligation to you.
21. Suspension, termination and changes to the site
We may change, limit, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time, with or without notice, and may block or remove content or users that we believe break these terms, harm the site or its users, or create legal risk for us. You may stop using the site at any time. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive — including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and disputes — survive any termination.
22. Copyright and removal requests
If you believe content on the site infringes your copyright, or is a certificate or record you have the right to have removed, send us the URL, a description of the content and your contact details at the address in the contact section. We respond to good-faith requests and may remove or restrict content while we review a request.
23. Dispute resolution — talk to us first
If you have a dispute with Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC about the site, you agree to contact us first and give us at least thirty (30) days to resolve it informally before starting any legal proceeding. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court where permitted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any claim must be brought in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective or representative proceeding, and both parties waive trial by jury. Any claim relating to the site must be started within one (1) year after it arises, or it is permanently barred, unless applicable law does not allow that limit. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest of it and of these terms remains in effect.
24. Other terms
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages at third-party services the site depends on. You agree that we may communicate with you electronically and that notices posted on the site or sent to an email address you have given us satisfy any legal requirement for written notice. These terms create no partnership, agency or employment relationship, and no third party is a beneficiary of them. Headings are for convenience only. Where these terms are available in more than one language, the English version controls.
