These Terms govern access to Cannatype, The CannAlyzer, the laboratory-certificate library, educational content, support tools, demonstration sites, and all related services. Cannatype is an independent educational and data-analysis platform. It is not a laboratory, dispensary, medical provider, regulator, or law firm.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Cannatype, scanning or uploading a certificate, using The CannAlyzer, submitting feedback, or continuing to use the site after an update, you agree to these Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the site. If you use the site for another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to do so.

2. Who we are

Cannatype.org and The CannAlyzer™ are operated by Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC. Cannatype is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the University of California, Berkeley. Unless a page expressly says otherwise, dispensary names, logos, colors, product names, laboratory names, and producer names are shown for identification and demonstration only and do not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or operation by those parties.

3. Eligibility and age

You must be 21 or older, or a registered medical cannabis patient where applicable, to use the site. You may not use the site if you are barred by applicable law or if you intend to use it for unlawful activity. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply where you access or use the service.

4. Educational use only; not medical advice

Everything on Cannatype is for educational and informational purposes only. Nothing is medical advice, a diagnosis, a treatment plan, a dosing recommendation, a safety determination, or a recommendation to use, buy, avoid, combine, or stop any product. Cannabinoids and terpenes can interact with medicines and may carry risks. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using cannabis, especially if you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical or mental-health condition, or are responsible for another person’s care.

5. Certificates, registries and data

Cannatype displays values read from laboratory certificates of analysis (COAs), state registry records, dispensary menus, producer or laboratory publications, and certificates users upload. We do not test products, verify laboratory methods, operate registries, confirm that a sample came from the package you hold, or guarantee that a certificate is authentic, current, complete, or correctly matched. Certificate values can be revised, superseded, mislabeled, or affected by sampling and testing limitations.

Always inspect the original certificate and confirm that the batch, lot, harvest, or sample identifier matches your package. Cannatype is not responsible for a purchase, use, health decision, regulatory action, or legal consequence based on the data shown.

6. Certificates you upload

If you upload or scan a certificate, you confirm that you have the right to share it, that it is not confidential, and that your submission does not violate law or another person’s rights. Uploaded certificates may be stored, parsed, indexed, displayed to other users, matched to products, and used to improve the service. Certificates are intended to be saved without your name or contact details unless you include them.

Do not upload altered, forged, private, privileged, or misleading documents. We may remove or restrict content, annotate it as unverified, or decline to display it.

7. Automated analysis and AI assistants can make mistakes

Analysis, matching, classification, scoring, summaries, product comparisons, and support answers may be produced automatically or with artificial intelligence. Automated output can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, biased by the input data, or misinterpreted. It may misread a value, match the wrong certificate, confuse strains or products, misquote research, or overlook a safety issue.

AI output is not reviewed by a physician, pharmacist, scientist, laboratory, regulator, or lawyer before publication. No professional relationship is created. Double-check anything important against the original certificate, the product package, the relevant regulation, and a qualified professional.

8. Compound-effect statements

Notes about individual cannabinoids, terpenes, or other compounds summarize published preclinical and early clinical research on isolated compounds. Individual responses vary, product mixtures are complex, and the combined effects of compounds in a real product are often unproven. These notes are not claims about any specific product or person and must not be used for dosing, diagnosis, treatment, or safety decisions.

9. No sale of cannabis; safety and legal compliance

Cannatype does not sell, dispense, ship, deliver, broker, or take orders for cannabis or any product. Links may lead to third-party platforms that have their own terms and age controls. Cannabis laws differ between federal, state, local, and tribal jurisdictions and change often. You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and for keeping cannabis away from children and pets.

Cannabis can impair judgment and coordination. Do not drive or operate machinery after use. Do not use Cannatype for emergencies. If someone may be in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. For possible poisoning in the United States, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

Some features may require an account, email address, verification code, or other access credential. You agree to provide accurate information, keep credentials confidential, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account and for devices you use.

Cannatype’s original design, software, compilations, analysis, text, artwork, and branding are owned by Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC or its licensors. Cannatype™ and The CannAlyzer™ are trademarks of Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC. You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, sell, sublicense, or build a competing service from a substantial portion of the site or its data without written permission.

Certificates, registry records, research papers, product names, brand names, dispensary names, and third-party logos belong to their owners and appear for identification, education, or commentary only.

13. Third-party links and services

The site links to or draws on third-party registries, laboratories, dispensaries, ordering platforms, publishers, research databases, hosting providers, and analytics services. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, security, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.

14. Privacy and data handling

We may collect certificates, messages, account information, technical logs, and aggregate usage data. We use this information to operate, secure, measure, and improve the service, respond to requests, and comply with law. We do not sell personal information. Third-party providers may process data on our behalf and have their own privacy terms.

15. Copyright and removal requests

If you believe content on the site infringes your copyright or other rights, or that a certificate or record should be removed, send us the exact URL, identification of the work or record, an explanation of your rights, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and your signature where required. We may remove or restrict content while we review a request. We may notify the uploader or source and allow a response.

16. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SITE, DATA, CERTIFICATES, ANALYSIS, AND AI OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS,” “AS AVAILABLE,” AND “WITH ALL FAULTS.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, AUTHENTICITY, SAFETY, AND QUIET ENJOYMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, CURRENT, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PARTICULAR USE.

17. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CANNABIS CHEMOTYPE ANALYSIS, LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, VENDORS, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, REGULATORY LOSS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SITE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. THE SITE IS FREE TO USE; OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cannabis Chemotype Analysis, LLC and its members, managers, employees, contractors, vendors, and licensors from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the site, your uploads or submissions, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or another person’s rights.

19. Suspension, termination and changes to the site

We may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time. We may remove or restrict content, block access, or terminate an account for suspected fraud, infringement, abuse, security risk, or violation of these Terms. You may stop using the site at any time. Sections on ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, and disputes survive termination.

20. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We make no representation that the site is appropriate or lawful in every jurisdiction.

21. Dispute resolution

Before filing a claim, contact us through the Feedback page or at [email protected] and give us at least thirty (30) days to attempt an informal resolution. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. Otherwise, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, and you consent to venue and personal jurisdiction there, unless applicable law requires otherwise. To the extent permitted by law, claims must be brought individually and not as part of a class, collective, or representative action, and each party waives trial by jury. Any claim must be brought within one year after it arises, unless the law requires a longer period.

22. Electronic notices and general terms

You consent to receive notices electronically through the site, email, or the contact information you provide. If any provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Headings are for convenience only. These Terms and any additional notices presented at the time of a feature or purchase are the entire agreement regarding the site.
